Google Makes Visits to Museums Free

If there was anything I wished and came true is a visit to world's popular museums free and without any hassle. Google has made this come true for me. Now all I have to do is just browse through the museum from the comfort of my home. Explore museums from around the world, discover and view hundreds of artworks at incredible zoom levels, and even create and share your own collection of masterpieces.

My first visit in this artwork by Google was filled with resentment and cynicism of what could an online museum offer. But the moment I clicked on http://www.googleartproject.com/ I had a mind-boggling experience at what opened on the screen. What followed was a soulful journey into some of the most exotic rooms of art collection.

The sojourn in the world museums is a particularly engaging one. An ease to browse through the museums is what makes your click worthy. Simply select a museum from the homepage and then either chose 'Explore the museum' or 'View Artwork'. Once you are in the main site use the drop-down menus or the side info bar to navigate between artworks and museums.

The best option I found in this page is create my own collection and share it online. Its like the artist in me was reborn. I just wanted to shout it in the street to come and see my own collection.

You can get the feel of the State Hermitage that is so spoken of with reverence by art connoisseurs. You can spend days in this museum and yet not get tired or so the art lovers say. But, who has that kind of luxury to spend so many days in St Petersburg, Russia? Now, Google has given you free tickets and stay at St Petersburg and a wistful love for art looming in the background. Each masterpiece in the Hermitage is worth your Internet time.

Van Gogh museum at Amsterdam could not have given you a better view than what you get at Google Art Project. Each picture and painting with a zoom in - zoom out facility gives you the required in depth view. An amazing painting that shook me to the core and that I must have viewed for hours is the Apparition of Christ to the People at The State Tretyakov Gallery, Russia. I can vouch for the ultimate experience You could get by visiting this site. Gustave Courbet's Woman and the parrot is another masterpiece that I would recommend my art lover friends to ponder about.

The Free Gallery of Art, in Washington, DC, USA has a marvel in the form of The Princess from the land of porcelain. This oil on canvas can unravel the mysterious look the lady creates in this portrait.

The overall experience as a first time visitor to this art project has left me wanting for more. Its like Google has ignites a passion in me. With passing time I expect Google to include the lesser known museums of the world.

"Thanks to lalitha, who made my thoughts see print."
